SHIFT Frankfurt presents first glimpse of new German fashion fair in Offenbach

The new German fashion fair SHIFT Frankfurt has offered a first preview of its concept at the industrial venue Fredenhagen in Offenbach, a concept that originally comes from the Netherlands. During an exclusive sneak peek, fashion professionals, brands, and agencies were given the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the location and gain an initial impression of the stand and lighting concepts that are set to define the event.

Approximately one hundred selected guests from retail, brands, agencies, and trade press attended the industrial hall, which was deliberately presented largely in its raw state. Within this setting, the organization showcased several example stand setups in different sizes, combined with an initial lighting concept intended to illustrate how architecture and lighting shape the atmosphere of the trade fair. According to the organizers, the concept of SHIFT revolves around a focused, open, and contemporary environment in which dialogue and interaction take center stage.

New platform for the German market
With the introduction of SHIFT Frankfurt, the organization aims to respond to a need within the German fashion industry. Although Germany is the largest fashion market in Europe, the initiators believe there is currently a lack of a central and neutral meeting point for the sector. Demand for a new platform has reportedly increased significantly in recent months.

SHIFT aims to fulfill this role by creating a curated, high-quality environment where brands, retailers, and partners can meet, gain inspiration, and develop new collaborations.

Focus on fashion retail and collaboration
The trade fair initially focuses on German-speaking fashion retail. The concept is designed to combine inspiration, future-oriented retail ideas, and targeted networking. Established brands as well as new players, agencies, and technology partners are brought together in an environment that encourages collaboration.

According to the organization, the goal is to identify relevant impulses for the market, strengthen partnerships, and collectively reflect on the future of fashion retail.

Three stand concepts
Three different stand formats have been developed for exhibitors. The Open Space concept offers stands of 30 to 40 square meters with full creative freedom for brands. In addition, there is the Plug & Play Basic concept, a ready-to-use system stand ranging from 5 to 40 square meters with standard equipment such as stainless steel racks, lighting, and basic furniture.

The more extensive Plug & Play+ option adds, among other things, a personalized back wall with logo or visual material. For brands committing to multiple editions of the event, so-called Co-Initiator packages are also available, offering additional visibility and priority placement.

The concept is intended to provide flexibility while maintaining visual balance across the exhibition floor. By setting a maximum stand size of 40 square meters, the organization aims to prevent large stands from dominating the overall look. The overall impression should be curated, cohesive, and inspiring.

Womenswear and menswear together
SHIFT Frankfurt has chosen to present both womenswear and menswear at the trade fair. According to the organization, modern retail concepts are becoming less strictly aligned with separate categories. By bringing both segments together, the fair aims to stimulate cross-pollination and inspiration between different retail concepts.

There will be no fixed ratio between womenswear and menswear brands. More important, according to the organizers, is that the overall brand landscape forms a balanced mix of segments, styles, price levels, and positioning.

Sustainability as an integral part
Sustainability will also be visible at SHIFT Frankfurt, including through participating brands, partners, and the side program. However, the organization has deliberately chosen not to present the theme as a separate niche segment. Instead, sustainability is considered a natural and integral part of contemporary business models in the fashion industry.

First edition planned for July 2026
Following an earlier date change, the organization is now targeting July 1 and 2, 2026 for the first edition of SHIFT Frankfurt. Market responses to the concept and the sneak preview have been described as positive.

For the first edition, the organization is aiming for a number of exhibitors approaching one hundred, although the quality of the brand offering remains more important than reaching an exact number of participants.

Selected visitor audience
The trade fair is primarily aimed at decision-makers in German-speaking fashion retail, including store owners, buyers, retail directors, and category managers. According to the organization, the visitor base will be carefully curated and will consist of a mix of multi-store retailers, mid-sized companies, and selected boutiques from Germany and the wider DACH region.

Data-driven matchmaking
To increase the relevance of interactions on the exhibition floor, SHIFT Frankfurt is collaborating with technology partner Hyperscout. Based on AI-driven analyses, detailed profiles of German retailers have been created. Exhibiting brands are actively matched with retailers that best fit their positioning.

According to the organization, this data-driven approach is intended to reduce “noise” and improve the quality of conversations and business opportunities. The model is seen as a step toward a new type of B2B fashion event in which matchmaking and substantive relevance take center stage.

Broader network of professionals
Although retail plays a central role, the trade fair is not exclusively focused on retailers and brands. Technology companies, manufacturers, trade media, and other professionals from the fashion industry are also invited to participate.

With this broad approach, SHIFT Frankfurt aims to grow into a meeting place where business, knowledge, and innovation come together. The organization’s ambition is for the event to develop in the coming years into a permanent meeting point for the German fashion industry and a platform that actively contributes to the future of the sector.
