Non-food turnover up by over 5%
Non-food turnover (including retail trade not in stores) grew by 5.2% in September 2024. Volume (turnover adjusted for price changes) was 4.7% higher than a year earlier.
Shoe and leather goods stores, clothing stores, drugstores, consumer electronics stores, DIY stores (including kitchens and floors) and recreational stores had higher turnover in September than in September 2023. In contrast, furniture and home furnishings stores had lower turnover in September.
Turnover of retail sub-sectors
Online turnover 10.5% higher
Online turnover was 10.5% higher in September than in September 2023. Web shops (whose main activity is selling via the internet) achieved a turnover of 12.1% higher. Online turnover of shops where selling via the internet is a secondary activity (multi-channelers) was 8.3% lower.
The online turnover of clothing shops, food and drug stores, shops selling other non-food items and shops selling consumer electronics was higher in September 2024 than in September 2023.
